Compelling reading that helps us all learn to challenge biases and overcome discrimination

A captivating story providing insight to an incredible life journey. Challenging to read at times with uncomfortable truths of biases and how society can treat minorities. Yet also an incredibly powerful narrative showing courageous vulnerability and perspective of an authentic leader.

The author leaves the reader all the richer bringing them along through her experiences of navigating unjust struggles, resilient achievements, ignorant discrimination, and heartfelt support.

I highly recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. It provides important life lessons in combatting ongoing biases, both conscious and unconscious, that we all have as individuals and across our society. Integrity, grit, dedication, honesty, humility, and determination naturally emerge as valuable character traits to contest and hopefully ultimately overcome associated pervasive vilification and insidious adversity. We must value inclusion, not division, respect, not denigration. We each have a role and a responsibility in facilitating a sharing and learning environment whereby everyone is enabled to speak their truth, live their truth.
